HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif., Jan. 13, 2010 – The latest forecast from Surfline, the official forecaster for the Katin Pro/Am Team Challenge presented by Primo, continues to look solid for the duration of the two-day event Thurs. (1/14) and Fri. (1/15) on the north side of the Huntington Beach Pier. To keep up on all of the latest forecast and event information, text “KATIN” to 53137, follow on Twitter twitter.com/KatinProAm or Facebook facebook.com/KatinUSA, or visit katinproam.com to watch the live webcast.

hb_nearshoreAccording to Surfline: “A solid WNW swell will provide ample surf for the Katin Pro/Am Team Challenge presented by Primo on the north side of the Huntington Beach Pier on Thursday and Friday. Light wind, sunny skies and excellent conditions prevail Friday for the Final; Thursday’s conditions won’t be as good, but are still favorable through the morning hours.

On Thursday we’ll see strong 5-8+ foot faces at the Pier along with some larger sets up to 10 foot. High pressure will be moving back over Southern California and our conditions will be improving with morning offshore flow out of the northeast direction (although still a little lump and bump leftover from Wednesday night’s onshore wind). Afternoon wind will be moderate strength out of the west-northwest direction.

On Friday the swell will be fading, but there will still be plenty of good size surf showing in the 4-7+ foot range through the morning hours, with a slow decreasing trend over the afternoon. Conditions look excellent: light offshore flow in the morning will turn light/variable in the afternoon and we expect clean conditions all day.”

Competition will begin on Thursday morning at 8 a.m., running all heats of Round 1. The first two heats of Round 2 may run depending on conditions. On Friday, competition will begin at 8 a.m., completing Round 2, followed by the Quarters, Semis and the Final. The Awards ceremony will occur immediately following competition at approximately 3 p.m. at the Shorebreak Hotel.  The heat draw is available at katinproam.com.

An event webcast will feature live announcing and commentating by Dave Stanfield and Omar Etcheverry, live scoring, special guests, on-beach interviews, online giveaways, instant replays, highlight video clips, and more.

The Shorebreak Hotel will serve as the official event headquarters. Visit shorebreakhotel.com for more information and contact Shannon Eaton, 714-861-4470, for bookings.
