REGISTRATION FOR 2011 KATIN PRO-AM TEAM CHALLENGE DUE BY DECEMBER 26, 2010

HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif., (Dec. 17, 2010) – Registration forms are now being accepted for the Association of Surfing Professionals (ASP) specialty sanctioned 2011 Katin Pro-Am Team Challenge presented by Sports 1 Marketing. The historic contest will return for two days of spirited competition amongst both teams and individuals during a holding period of January 4-9, 2011 on the North side of the Huntington Beach pier. Registration deadline is December 26, 2010.

Last year’s champions Team Reef will be back this year to defend their title as well as other major surf brands including: Quiksilver, Hurley, Katin, Jack’s, Fox, Dragon, Rip Curl, Analog, Glas, 17th St / Mauli Ola Foundation and Banzai Bowls.  Teams can still register up until Dec. 26 at the event website katinproam.com.

The event format will feature 20 teams of four surfers each competing in a four-man open-draw format that Nancy Katin originally conceived in 1977.  Team results will be determined by the placement of individual competitors with points distributed in each heat as follows: 4 points for first, 3 points for second, 2 points for third, 1 point for fourth.

Individual points for each team member will be tallied and the four teams earning the largest point totals will share in $15,000 worth of advertising in SURFING Magazine or on surfingmagazine.com and prizing from sponsors.  Additionally, the top eight individual surfers will receive a cash payout worth $10,000.

3rd: $2,000 digital ad campaign on surfingthemag.com
4th: $1,000 digital ad campaign on surfingthemag.com

Equal 7th: $250
